Norwich City transfer news: Danny Batth signs from Sunderland
The 32-year-old arrives at Carrow Road after fellow centre-back Andrew Omobamidele was allowed to join Nottingham Forest in a deal that could rise to £20million.
Batth signs an initial one-year contract with the Canaries, who have been tracking him all summer in case Omobamidele departed, with a club option for a 12-month extention.
He was part of the Sunderland team that reached the Championship play-off semi-finals last season, making the league’s team of the year for his role in the Black Cats’ success.
He was promoted to the Premier League with Wolverhampton Wanderers as they won the Championship in 2018, but was immediately loaned out and has never played a minute of top-flight football.
Batth will not be available for City’s Championship match against Rotherham United this afternoon, having missed yesterday’s midday registration cut-off.
