Homelessness charity to hold showcase evening

The charity Hope in Action, which has several houses for the homeless in Norwich, is organising an evening to thank volunteers and listen to church leaders.

The thanksgiving and showcase evening will be on February 27 at St Catherine’s church hall in Mile Cross. It is an evening to give thanks to existing church partnerships and volunteers and to inform and enthuse more like-minded churches to enable them to house the homeless.

The charity would love to extend an invitation to anybody that wants to hear tenants tell their stories. It also wants to thank church volunteers and hear from church leaders about what it is like to partner with Hope into Action, and how they are housing the homeless and answering God’s call to provide shelter to the poor wanderer (Isaiah 58:6-7).

Meanwhile in December the Cringleford Singers raised £1000 for Hope into Action through their Christmas concerts.

“We were entertained to an evening of new and old songs, carols and stories,” writes Debra Green, Norwich Team Lead of Hope into Action. “Margaret Smith, their Choir Leader, is quite the entertainer with a tale to tell after each sung piece. I had the privilege of meeting the choir again last week and collecting the cheque from Margaret.”

All of Hope into Action’s tenants will have support needs that have resulted in their homelessness, so the money raised will be used to support those needs and enable the tenants to move on well into independent accommodation.
