1. Wymondham

While this list is not in any particular order, Wymondham was by far the location most commented on our Facebook post.

People living in the town feel a real sense of community, which is helped by a jam-packed calendar of events including the monthly Farmers’ Market, Wymondham Food and Drink Festival and Wynterfest.

2. Reepham

This charming market town was another popular choice and it offers the perfect mix of countryside living and a community feel, with plenty of local clubs and events.

The annual Reepham Music Festival also attracts thousands of people to Rookery Meadow each year.

3. Caister-on-Sea 

Located just a stone’s throw from Great Yarmouth, Caister-on-Sea attracts holidaymakers for its friendly welcome as much as its golden sand beach.

4. Aylsham

Aylsham is one of Norfolk’s most upcoming areas thanks to a whole host of new openings, including Stamp Pizza and M’s of Aylsham, and The Porters Arms pub is launching soon. 

Head to the Market Place on a Monday or Friday to shop from local stalls and to meet friendly folk.

5. Thorpe St Andrew

This Norwich suburb has a strong sense of community as well as riverside views.

There are regular free entry events organised by the town council in Fitzmaurice Park, including the upcoming Street Food Festival on September 10.

6. Cromer 

This seaside gem is welcoming all year round and it is home to a whole host of fantastic independent shops and restaurants, such as Craft Room and the award-winning Bann Thai Restaurant.

7. East Harling

People who live in this village, located near Thetford, are very proud of where they call home. 

Head to the riverside, opposite St Peter and St Paul’s Church, on Mondays and Thursdays for a catch-up with friends over coffee and cake from the local Brew Daisy trailer.

Jim Perkins wrote on our Facebook post: “I lived in East Harling years ago when I was stationed in the UK.

“But as an American, I can honestly say that our Harling neighbors are still our best friends and they made us feel at home from day one.

“Harling is the friendship centre of Norfolk, and for us, the world.”
