Norwich City v Leeds United: Match report, player ratings

Norwich City started the game strong, with goals from Shane Duffy and Gabriel Sara putting them in a commanding position. However, a second-half comeback from Leeds United turned the game around, leaving Norwich reeling.

In the fourth minute, Duffy opened the scoring for Norwich with a header from Sara’s corner. Leeds had opportunities to equalize, with Glen Kamara missing a good chance and Joel Piroe also failing to capitalize on a one-on-one opportunity. Norwich thought they had doubled their lead when Duffy headed in a second goal, but it was ruled out for a foul elsewhere. Sara came close to making it 2-0 with a shot that grazed the post, before Jack Stacey denied Crysensio Summerville with a last-ditch challenge.

Sara eventually extended Norwich’s lead with a magnificent goal, twisting and turning past five Leeds defenders before smashing the ball into the net. However, Leeds started the second half poorly, and Duffy inadvertently gave them a lifeline when he deflected a cross into his own goal. Leeds continued to press forward, and Summerville eventually brought them level with a curling strike that hit the post before rolling in.

In the 85th minute, Leeds completed their comeback with Summerville scoring his second goal of the game. He was found in space on the counter-attack, and he smashed the ball into the far corner. The result leaves Norwich in 11th place in the Championship, and they will be looking to turn their form around in their next match against Middlesbrough.

Overall, it was a game of two halves with Norwich dominating the first half and Leeds coming back strong in the second. The result highlights the weaknesses in Norwich’s defense, particularly the vulnerability to set-piece situations. Leeds showed great resilience and determination to overturn the deficit and secure the win.
