Norwich City scout Real Madrid bound Reading youngster – reports

18-year-old Vickers turned professional with the League One club Reading in July and has already made 11 appearances for the team this season. Despite his impressive performances, he has struggled to carve out a place in the team’s preferred formation. These performances have attracted the attention of several clubs, including Norwich, who have reportedly sent scouts to watch him ahead of the January transfer window. He particularly stood out in a 5-2 win over Arsenal’s U21 side, leading to interest from Arsenal, Celtic, and Leicester as well.

One of the most intriguing potential suitors for Vickers is Real Madrid, who are reportedly interested in bringing him to their B Team, Castilla, with the eventual goal of developing him into a first-team player for the La Liga giants. Reading have set an asking price of £1 million for Vickers, as well as a percentage of any future sell-on, complicating potential transfer negotiations. However, Norwich’s head of football operations, Mark Bowen, is expected to be involved in discussions. Norwich are also expected to be active in the transfer market, with plans to lower the average age of the squad and finance incoming business with the help of Mark Attanasio.

Norwich’s sporting director Ben Knapper has presented his January window plans to manager David Wagner, with a focus on lowering the age of the squad. The club is also financial prepared to make moves in the transfer market, and they have all of their post-Brexit slots available. Despite this, the team still has to navigate five Championship fixtures before the transfer window officially opens. With exciting prospects both on the squad and potentially incoming, it is an exciting time for Norwich and their supporters.
