Norwich City: Przemyslaw Placheta interview on David Wagner principles
Placheta has impressed City head coach David Wagner after an extended period on the sidelines last season, breaking into the matchday squad ahead of career full-back Sam McCallum in recent weeks.
That reintegration comes after previous head coach Dean Smith sent Placheta on loan to second-tier rivals Birmingham, where he impressed before sustaining a shin injury.
Wagner found a role for the 25-year-old this summer, however, and has praised his potential in a full-back role.
He has also been clear that his training methods focus on City rather than their opposition, and the Pole reiterated those beliefs before their Championship clash with Leicester on Wednesday night.
“We’ll achieve good results by looking at ourselves, concentrating on our tactics, our positives,” he said. “I’m pretty sure if we do this, we’ll end up happy.
“We’ve got a good squad, a good system, and we’ve shown that on the pitch. Game by game we’ll only be doing better, and it will look really good.”
Placheta scored just his second goal for Norwich last month, capping an impressive Carabao Cup display against Bristol City with a match-winning strike from a tight angle.
That finish was a satisfying landmark for the seven times-capped international, but left him hungry for more in yellow and green.
“The feeling of that goal was incredible for me,” he continued, speaking to City’s official matchday programme OTBC. “I think it was reward for the hard work I’d put in through the past year.
“But I don’t just want to stop there. I want to help the team, score goals, get assists, make chances that get us to win. They are my goals.
“Since our first game we’ve showed that teams have some respect for us. They know we’re very strong, but we need to concentrate on ourselves and believe in ourselves.”
