Freezing weather conditions hit local football fixtures

Several football matches in various leagues across England were postponed due to adverse weather conditions. King’s Lynn Town’s home game against Banbury United in the National League North was called off after an 8am pitch inspection revealed that several areas of the pitch were in an unplayable condition. Fakenham Town’s FA Vase third round tie against Gt Wakering Rovers was also postponed because of the conditions.

In contrast, Lowestoft Town’s game against New Salamis in the Isthmian League North was given the go-ahead after a 9am pitch inspection. Similarly, Gorleston’s game at Felixstowe & Walton United did not fall victim to the conditions. However, Wroxham’s pitch was deemed “frozen and unplayable” after a 10.15am inspection, resulting in the postponement of the game against Heybridge Swifts.

In the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division, several matches were also called off due to the weather, including Dereham’s home game against Kirkley & Pakefield, Ely City v Sheringham, Harleston Town v Heacham, Mulbarton Wanderers v Downham Town and Thetford Town v Brandon. The adverse weather conditions had a significant impact on the football fixtures across multiple leagues, resulting in numerous games being postponed.
