Angus Gunn on the need for Norwich City to improve further

After struggling in matches against Cardiff, QPR and Bristol City, Norwich City achieved a dramatic 2-1 victory over Bristol City over the weekend. While it has helped to ease pressure on the underperforming Canaries, the victories have not been unconvincing and the team’s head coach, David Wagner, has been under increased pressure. The team has lacked control in games and struggled to consistently perform at high levels over the past two months. The hope now is that the results can be paired with better performances to ensure sustained improvement as they approach a busy festive period in the Championship.

Norwich’s first-choice goalkeeper admitted that the team has not played up to its own standards, attributing some of this to injuries but stating that this is not an excuse. The team remains a tight-knit group, and they hope to sustain these positive results and build on performances in order to move up in the table. Reflecting on their performance against Watford, the goalkeeper emphasized the importance of doing better in possession and controlling the game in order to create more chances and avoid conceding goals. The return of injured players, including Gunn, Hanley, and Sargent, is expected to provide a boost to the team as they complete their rehabilitation.

Angus Gunn, who returned from injury for Norwich City, made two crucial saves during his first match at Ashton Gate, contributing to the 2-1 victory. Despite facing difficulty and pressure while watching from the sidelines while he was injured, Gunn expressed gratitude at being able to return to the team and help secure the win. He also praised the performance of his teammate, George Long, who stepped in during his absence and performed well. Gunn acknowledged that his return to the team occurred after only three days of training, which he believes may not have been enough, but he was keen to make a positive impact and support his teammates.
