Youth worker raises kids with 35-mile marathon
Andy Jones, Director of the Christian charity Raise Kids Work, will be attempting his first Ultra Marathon of 35 miles at the start of July.
The runners will set off from Blakeney Quay at 2.30pm on July 2, and the aim is to reach Snettisham Beach before sunset.
In November 2020 Andy ran his first marathon to raise money for the charity and since then he has been trying to keep up with the running as much as possible.
He wanted a new challenge to help raise funds for his work – although this one is scary for him as it’s a very long way on unfamiliar and varied terrain.
Raise Kids Work works in schools and churches across the region, helping them with the mission of reaching children with the good news of Jesus. Andy is hoping to be able to grow the work and employ a worker to have an even bigger impact in the lives of children and teachers.
Recently the charity has been able to lead CAP (Christians Against Poverty) Money Kids Courses, Walk through the Bible Lessons, Easter in a Box, a whole school Easter Experience and Collective Worship (Assemblies).
Amongst the churches, new partnerships have begun including with Morley Methodist Chapel where Andy has been able to start a Monthly Kids Club. He is looking forward to being able to share a portable Christian themed Escape Room aimed at Key Stage 2 children.
