King’s Lynn man Reece Lennox will appear at Norwich Crown Court in May accused of burglary of copper cables and attempted burglaries

Lynn Man Charged with Business Burglary and Theft of Valuable Copper

A 28-year-old Lynn resident, Reece Lennox, has been charged with multiple offenses following a string of incidents at local businesses. During his initial appearance at Norwich Magistrates’ Court, Lennox faced charges related to a burglary where copper cables valued at £10,000 were stolen, along with two attempted burglaries, handling stolen goods (specifically a car), and possession of cannabis. Though currently homeless in the Lynn area, Lennox has been granted conditional bail until his next court appearance—a plea and trial preparation hearing scheduled for May 14 at Norwich Crown Court.

The case began when authorities launched an investigation into a break-in at a business located on Poplar Avenue in the Saddlebow district of Lynn. This incident occurred on Wednesday, April 8, and was followed by an attempted burglary at the same establishment less than a week later on Tuesday, April 14. On that same Tuesday, another attempted burglary was reported at a different business on the North Lynn industrial estate, creating a pattern of criminal activity that quickly drew police attention to the area.

Law enforcement acted swiftly, apprehending a man in his twenties during the early morning hours of Tuesday on Hardwick Road in connection with these incidents. After the arrest, police identified the suspect as Reece Lennox and subsequently charged him with the various offenses. Given the serious nature of the crimes, particularly the theft of valuable copper materials from a local business, Lennox was initially remanded in police custody to ensure his appearance before the magistrates.

The theft of copper cables represents a significant loss for the affected business, as such materials carry substantial value in both legitimate and black markets. The £10,000 valuation of the stolen copper highlights the growing problem of metal theft that continues to plague industrial areas and businesses throughout the UK. Beyond the monetary value of the stolen goods, such thefts often cause additional damage to property and can disrupt business operations, creating financial hardships that extend well beyond the replacement cost of the materials.

During yesterday’s court appearance, the magistrates determined that the case was serious enough to be referred to the Crown Court, indicating the gravity of the charges against Lennox. Despite this, the decision to grant conditional bail suggests that the court believes Lennox will return for his next hearing without posing an immediate threat to the community. The specific conditions of his bail were not detailed in the report but typically include restrictions on movement, regular check-ins with police, or prohibitions against contacting certain individuals or visiting specific locations.

As Lennox awaits his May court date, the case serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by businesses in industrial areas regarding security and theft prevention. Local business owners in Lynn’s industrial estates may be reviewing their security measures in light of these incidents, particularly those who maintain valuable materials like copper on their premises. Meanwhile, law enforcement continues to monitor the situation, having demonstrated their commitment to investigating and prosecuting such crimes that impact the local business community and economy.
