Jack Wilshere: Norwich set to appoint Arsenal Under-18s boss as first-team coach

Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is set to join Norwich City as their first-team coach, with the move expected to be completed in the coming days. Wilshere, who retired from playing at the age of 30 in 2022, has been the head coach of Arsenal’s Under-18s since. He will be replacing Narcis Pelach, who left Norwich last month to join Stoke City as head coach. The Canaries view Wilshere as a long-term appointment and compensation is not an issue in securing his services.

Wilshere’s upcoming move to Norwich will see him reunite with sporting director Ben Knapper, whom he knew from his time as Arsenal’s loans manager. The 32-year-old midfielder played 197 times for Arsenal, scoring 14 goals, and won two FA Cups during his time at the club. He also had stints at other clubs including Bournemouth, West Ham, and Aarhus in Denmark. Wilshere earned 34 caps for England before retiring from international football as well.

Norwich City, currently seventh in the Championship, have appointed Dane Johannes Thorup as their manager in the summer. The addition of Wilshere to the coaching staff is seen as a significant move by the Canaries as they look to continue their strong performance in the league. Wilshere’s experience as a player and coach will be valuable for Norwich as they aim to maintain their position in the Championship and potentially earn promotion to the Premier League.

The completion of Jack Wilshere’s move to Norwich as first-team coach will not be finalized until after the Canaries’ match against Stoke this weekend. Wilshere is expected to lead Arsenal’s Under-18s in their game against Aston Villa before officially joining the coaching staff at Carrow Road. With his knowledge of the game and experience at the highest level, Wilshere’s arrival at Norwich is eagerly anticipated by the club’s management, players, and fans. The former England midfielder’s new role marks a new chapter in his coaching career and a potential opportunity for further success in the future.
