On Palm Sunday Eaton Choral Society will be performing J. S. Bach’s St John Passion at Christchurch Norwich.
St John Passion is considered to be one of Bach’s finest works and is a fitting start to Holy Week. There will be excellent soloists and musicians, and the Director is Dr Susannah Self.
Eaton Choral Society started in the 1980s as Eaton Parish Choir. It later became Eaton Parishes Choir when St Andrew’s and Christ Church became separate parishes.
“We have continued over the years with two concerts every year,” said Jenny Holcombe, “except during Covid restrictions, and have had excellent directors, with Susie Self since last year. Having hoped to perform this earlier in the decade, we are so pleased to be able to have the Concert at the beginning of the Easter Story, the most important time in the Christian year.”
The event begins at 7pm at Christchurch, Church Avenue, Norwich NR2 2AQ. Entry is free and there will be a retiring collection.
