Giving Glory to God in Creativity in Salthouse
A group of Christian artists will be exhibiting their work in Salthouse Church for a week in June, and all are welcome to view this free exhibition.
In the light, bright and reflective space of the beautiful Salthouse church of St Nicholas in North Norfolk, ‘The Salthouse’, a group of Christian creatives, will again be exhibiting this summer. The 8 artists are Charlotte Ashenden, Derek Blois, Emma Blount, Ian Dyble, Charlotte Harmer, Tracey Ross, Cecilia Tyrrell and Sue Walsh, who work in various media and genres, from acrylic and oil paintings, glass and textiles, sound and poetry.
Each artist finds inspiration from an understanding that we are all, to some extent, creative because we are made in the image of a Creator who loves us and loves the world we are blessed to live in. The church, set high between farmland and marsh, land and sea, is worth a visit in itself and many find it a place of deep peace, a place to sit and ponder.
One of the exhibitors, Ian Dyble says “I love this place and it is a real joy to be exhibiting again this year. Our hope as artists is that many people will come along and enjoy the art but also find a sense of wonder and, perhaps, see a higher hand at work. Over 500 people came along last year to see the art and discover a bit more about the Creator!”
The exhibition will be open daily from 10am to 5pm from Wednesday 14th June to Tuesday 20 June, with a private viewing on the first evening. Many of the artists will be offering original work for sale, as well as prints and cards. Entry is free.
Artist and organiser Tracey Ross, pictured right, says ‘I am absolutely delighted The Salthouse is happening again this summer. It is such a great opportunity to see how artists express their creativity through art and faith. This year we have the pleasure of a sound artist and an eco-printed textile designer to help fill the church with colour and the sound of nature’.
Tracey also has a solo exhibition at the church during the summer called Deep Calls Unto Deep which opens daily from Saturday 15 to Sunday 30 July. Time: 10am – 5pm. The private view is on Friday 14 July from 5pm to 8.30pm.
St Nicholas Church is on Church Lane, (off Cross St) in Salthouse. NR25 7XH. Free parking available.
