Cromer’s thriving Community Shed welcomes all

The Community Shed, run by local Christians in Cromer is settling into their new home in the town, and all are welcome to come along and see what they are doing. Tony Rothe reports.

The unit, at Middlebrook Way, is shared with the Cromer charity About With Friends (AWF), and has enabled the Cromer Shed to really get underway until they can find their own premises.

Cromer Community Shed is open on the second Saturday of every month from 10am to 3pm. Anyone can come along and bring something to the Repair Café that needs fixing, or is damaged for the members to take a look at. Maybe something beautiful has been bodged, or a broken treasure is in need of some TLC? If they can be fixed: it will be done – for a modest donation!

The Shed brings people together in an environment where they can create, chat, and enjoy some company. They have recently been awarded a grant from the Health Lottery which helps with the running costs, and they are now recognised as a charity which will help them access grants to build their own permanent Shed.

Richard Wall, from the Community Shed, said “The Repair Cafe is proving to be needed by the local community and the feedback on Facebook is very positive. More people are coming to give us a look and, finding the welcome and friendliness, decide to stay.”

The Shed will be open on Saturdays March 11, April 8, and May 13. It is located at About With Friends, Unit 22d, Middlebrook Way, Cromer, NR27 9JR.
