Aylsham Church to host chamber orchestra concert

There will be a concert by the chamber orchestra Ensemble East in Aylsham Parish Church next month, and tickets are now on sale.

Established in 2018, Ensemble East made its first appearance in the Aylsham church as part of the Repton Festival, and now returns to perform every year as their “orchestra in residence”.

The Norfolk-based chamber orchestra, a group of 34 talented musicians from across the region, will perform music full of excitement and emotion spanning three centuries at Aylsham Parish Church on Saturday 20 May at 7:30pm. The concert will feature works by Mozart, Haydn, Wagner, and Ruth Gipps.

Revd Canon Julie Boyd, vicar of Aylsham Church, said, “We are delighted that Ensemble East chose to start its life in Aylsham and are looking forward to another wonderful evening of music.”

Claire Luck, who helps to run the orchestra, said “The Sunday Times has rightly voted Aylsham one of the best places to live in the East of England – a switched-on place where you can also switch off.”

Conductor Philip Hesketh, who travels from Wiltshire agrees. “It’s always a pleasure to visit such a beautiful part of the country and to work with such a great group of musicians.”

Doors will open at 7pm. Tickets are £18, but under 18’s are free.

Tickets for this and the Ensemble’s other Norfolk concerts are available on line from ticketsource.co.uk.

Tickets for the Aylsham concert are also available from JB Postles, 32 Market Place, Aylsham,

or on the door (cash or card).
