New assistant curate for Gorleston church
Karl Ross will be joining the team at St Mary Magdalene in Gorleston as assistant curate from July of this year.
Karl, who is originally from Stockton-On-Tees in the North East, is currently completing his pre-ordination training at Trinity College in Bristol, and will be joining the church for about three years after he is ordained in July. He will be involved in all aspects of the life of the church as he learns from the vicar, Rev Matthew Price, and the other members of the team.
Karl said, “I am excited about joining St Mary Magdalene. First, because I’m pretty confident God has called me to be here as the curate for this time. To learn from Matthew, as well as everyone that is a part of the church fills me with so much joy. I do believe that coming to St Mary Mags will be an amazing time learning how to be the best vicar I can be.
“Second, I absolutely loved my time when I visited in January. I was made to feel so welcome and so loved from the get-go. I hope to repay that in some way over the next few years.
“Finally, as a kid, I used to come to this part of the world for family holidays. The last time we came was in 2018, to have a little trip down memory lane, and I have a distinct memory of praying for the churches in the area and thinking to myself: ‘wouldn’t it be great to minister here!’”
