Moment murderer caught burning bloody clothes on BBQ says ‘fair enough’ as he’s arrested for kicking neighbour to death

Martin Montgomery, 31, was arrested for the murder of Nigel Mazs, 59, after a heated argument escalated in Norfolk. Body cam footage shows Montgomery being apprehended as he burns his blood-soaked clothes on a barbecue outside a friend’s house. As he is informed of his arrest, Montgomery nonchalantly responds “yeah, fair enough” before requesting to pick up his phone. The police officer informs him that they will address his phone later, while observing the blackened barbecue where Montgomery was burning his clothing.

The incident began when Montgomery accused Mr. Mazs’ friends of taking drugs in a communal stairwell, sparking a confrontation. In a fit of rage, Montgomery kicked Mr. Mazs in the face, causing him to fall backwards and suffer a head injury. Despite Mr. Mazs managing to flee with the help of his friends, he eventually succumbed to his injuries and passed away 13 days later. Montgomery denied the murder charge but admitted to manslaughter, leading to a jury trial where a unanimous verdict was reached.

The jury found Montgomery guilty of the murder of Nigel Mazs after a nine-day trial at Norwich Crown Court. Despite his denial of the murder charge, he was convicted based on evidence presented during the trial. Detective Inspector Alix Wright, the lead investigator on the case, described the assault as unprovoked and highlighted Montgomery’s lack of concern for his victim. She emphasized the dangerous nature of Montgomery’s actions and urged for his removal from the streets to prevent further harm to others.

Montgomery’s sentencing is scheduled for a later date, where he will learn the consequences of his actions in the murder of Nigel Mazs. The incident, captured on body cam footage, serves as a chilling reminder of the potential consequences of violent confrontations. The tragic outcome of the confrontation highlights the importance of addressing conflicts peacefully and avoiding escalation that can lead to irreparable harm. The guilty verdict in this case serves as a form of justice for the victim and his loved ones, while also underscoring the need for accountability in cases of violence and harm towards others.
