Norwich cheerleaders East Coast Emeralds set for The Summit
The East Coast Emeralds’ under-18 cheerleading group, the Showstoppers, have achieved a major success by securing a trip to the USA and a place at a prestigious competition at Disney World in Florida. The group’s accomplishment was solidified at the Final Cheer Brings It On event in Disney Land Paris at the end of last month. Additionally, they earned an invite to the exclusive event, The Summit, next May, which was particularly impressive considering the Showstoppers only formed in August. This has made their entire club proud and is a significant milestone for the young team.
The Norwich-based club, which trains at a dedicated gym at Hewett Academy, was established in 2010 by sisters Becky Barton and Jenny Boyle. Joint head coach Becky expressed that sending a team to the US has always been a dream for the club, and they were unsure if it would ever be realized. Despite winning their division, they needed to achieve a certain points percentage, and they were thrilled to receive an invitation to the event in the USA soon after scoring. This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Showstoppers and the entire club.
East Coast Emeralds have a total of 10 competitive teams that compete nationwide throughout the year and offer classes for children from the age of four and upwards. Coach Becky emphasized that the entire U18 team had progressed through the club, with many individuals training for up to six hours per week and additional sessions on top of that. This significant achievement for a small, local club in Norwich will see them competing with some of the most prominent programs in the US, showcasing their talent on an international stage.
The success of the Showstoppers at the Final Cheer Brings It On event and their subsequent invitation to The Summit in the USA is a major accomplishment for the East Coast Emeralds, making the entire club proud. This success has been a long time in the making, with the young team training and competing for many years to get to this point. The opportunity to represent their club and compete with some of the best programs in the US is a testament to their dedication and talent. Ultimately, this achievement is a significant milestone for the young cheerleaders and will undoubtedly be an unforgettable experience for them as they showcase their skills on an international stage.
