Making his way from Gotham to these city streets, the man known only as The Norwich Batman says he’s “the hero Norwich didn’t ask for, or need, but we’re here for the people anyway.”

The mystery man first donned the mask in October 2014 for Halloween.

He said: “It started as a Halloween costume and people really liked it, so in 2015 I asked my friend Alfred to come along with me.”

Alfred added: “It just developed from there – we enjoyed what we were doing and looked at opportunities to get into character more.”

The pair have since set up a Facebook, Instagram and a YouTube channel – all under ‘The Norwich Batman’ moniker – where they look at unusual news for Batman to tackle while reviewing movies and bat-related merchandise.

“The Batman lounge pants are my favourite,” added the masked vigilante. “They’re comfy and look great.”

With the Batcave located on the outskirts of the city, Batman says: “We’re always keeping an eye out for the bat signal, available to answer the call.”

From the Batcave he travels the UK with his trusted companion in their “Bat Wagon” – a Volvo – to ‘tackle injustice’ at numerous conventions and events.

A popular attraction at these events – and to patrol the streets in – is the “Bat-Buggy”.

A converted off-road go-kart that was first unveiled at Norcon at the Norfolk Showground last September, it sits aside the “Bat-Scooter” as the pair’s crime-fighting transport.

Batman said: “The scooter became a hit with the public so the next progression was the buggy.

“It’s the best feeling in the world to see kids smiling, have these humorous feuds with villains – anyone from the Joker to the Predator – and just have people appreciate what we do.

“It makes everything worth it – it’s more than just a man in a costume.

“We want to put a smile on people’s faces.”
