Keith Greentree to host his last show on BBC Radio Norfolk

Keith Greentree, the long-time host of The Big Country Show on BBC Radio Norfolk, will be saying goodbye to listeners this Sunday. Originally from Hampshire, Greentree has been with the BBC since the 1990s and has become a household name on the popular country music program. The show, which airs every Sunday afternoon from 2pm to 4pm, showcases a variety of country music from around the world.

Greentree’s departure follows that of Ray Clark, who left Radio Norfolk last month and criticized the BBC’s recent changes on social media. In response to listener complaints that the changes were unfair to the older generation, Greentree addressed the issue in a show earlier this month. He acknowledged that the BBC is undergoing significant changes and noted that many other presenters have also been let go.

The BBC has undergone a major shake-up in recent months, resulting in the elimination of county-specific shows during lunchtime, afternoon, teatime, and weekends. These changes have been met with criticism and disappointment from audiences who feel that the BBC is neglecting their regional interests. The departure of beloved hosts like Greentree and Clark further intensifies these sentiments.

Despite the ongoing changes, BBC Radio Norfolk is still committed to providing quality programming for its listeners. The station will continue to showcase a wide range of music genres, including country, and will keep its audience informed with local news and community events. While it remains to be seen who will fill Greentree’s shoes on The Big Country Show, fans can expect the station to work diligently in finding a suitable replacement to continue delivering the comforting and familiar sounds of country music every Sunday afternoon.
