Fakenham Army Cadet Tyler awarded regimental coin
Lance Corporal Tyler Barker of the Fakenham detachment of the Norfolk Army Cadet Force was awarded a Regimental Coin at the Royal Anglian Regimental Day held at Duxford. The presentation was made by Colonel Cadets Brigadier Lyne in the presence of cadets from across the east of England. Tyler proudly wears the cap badge of the Royal Anglian Regiment, to which his detachment is affiliated.
The award acknowledges Tyler’s commendable service and sets an example for younger cadets. Having joined the cadets in April 2022, Tyler expressed his enjoyment of the experiences he has had so far. These include shooting and sleeping outside in “bashers,” which he wouldn’t normally have had the opportunity to do. Tyler particularly relished the camps where he met numerous new people and made friends. Annual camp was his favorite due to the variety of activities and the fun atmosphere. He has no regrets about his decision to join the cadets and highly recommends it to those who are considering it. The cadets have taught him a lot and offer constant support. Tyler looks forward to achieving his two star rank, as it will provide him with the chance for promotion. His pride in wearing the uniform reflects his aspiration to join the army when he is older.
The Fakenham detachment is located at the Community Center on Oak Street and parades every Tuesday at 7:30 pm. The detachment welcomes anyone aged 12 to 18 to attend a parade night and witness the opportunities offered by the cadets.
