BBC Look East presenter Mike Liggins has final show
Mike Liggins announced in August that he would be stepping down from BBC Look East after 35 years on our screen.
After making more than 6,000 reports for the show, presenter Susie Flower-Watt described him as a “wonderful human-being” ahead of a special segment in his final show this evening (Friday, October 6).
The BBC showed him dressed up in various costumes over the years, including as a fairy on top of a Christmas tree in Ipswich, and as a pirate in Great Yarmouth.
Liggins also opened up about his anxiety in the emotional segment.
“I will miss it, but I have had an amazing time. I have had a ball.”
Weatherman Dan Holley said that Liggins was “one of a kind”, while Susie Fowler-Watt tried to hold back the tears.
The broadcaster, loved for his friendly personality, started his career in 1984, before heading to the BBC in 1987 to present the BBC Radio Norfolk Sunday morning breakfast programme.
