Norwich: Man and son abused by gang in Pilling Park
Felix Chivite-Matthews, who lives in Thorpe Hamlet with his wife and 10-year-old Francis, was visiting Pilling Park with his son on Thursday (August 31) when the incident happened.
The 56-year-old said: “We go to the park quite often, maybe once or twice a month.

“We went around on our bikes for a while and then Francis went on some of the rides, before seeing some of his friends and started playing with them.
“So while he was off playing I just sat on the swings waiting.
“There were a few girls nearby – two looked like adults and four girls – who started talking to me, asking what I was doing.
“They became nasty saying I was being creepy and calling me a ‘paedo’ and ‘paedophile’.
“One of them pushed me off the swing and as I was walking away they threw their shoes at me.”
As Mr Chivite-Matthews moved away from the park with his son and towards the basketball courts, things only began to escalate.
He added: “They then called over more youngsters who were at the other end of the park and they all swarmed around us saying that I was a ‘paedo’.
“At this point I called the police, where an officer turned up pretty quickly, but the people had already left.”
A police spokeswoman said: “Police were called to reports of anti-social behaviour at Pilling Park in Norwich.
“A man was a the park, with his child on 31 August at 5.54pm, when a group of children verbally abused him.
“The incident was recorded by police, but the victim did not wish to make a formal complaint so no further action was taken.”

The incident has left Mr Chivite-Matthews worried going back to the park with his son in the future, saying: “It’s put me off honestly.
“I’m also worried if any of the children go to the same school as Francis that he’ll get bullied.
“It’s a worrying example for the older women to be setting such an example for the younger ones.”
