Norwich community litter pick to tackle fly-tipping
Neighbours living in the Heartsease area, on the edge of the city, are at the end of their tether with waste being dumped and ruining the estate.
Spearheaded by Liam Dennis, who has lived in the Heartsease area for eight years with his wife and three children, the aim is to stop the ongoing issue and the area “becoming a dumping ground.”

Liam, 44, said: “The state of our estates regarding rubbish and upkeep is getting worse.
“I feel like as a community we need to take matters into our own hands and tackle it, so I’m organising a litter pick.
“We need to make a stand because Norwich, in general, is becoming a dumping ground and I want to nip this in the bud before things get completely out of control.”

On the Heartsease Community Facebook page, which Liam runs, 42pc of 107 voters are currently in favour of helping clean up the area.
One neighbour commented: “Yes definitely, my pet hate is littering” while another added: “Bless your heart, I totally understand why you’re doing this.”
While the date of the litter pick is not yet confrimed, Liam hopes that with a good turnout, it can become a regular event.

He added: “With the number of people who contact me saying how bad the estate is for fly-tipping and general littering, I hope that we can come together to care for our homes.
“There’s so much rubbish being left it’s frustrating.
“I’ve done some litter picking where I work and it also helps with your wellbeing, connect with others and hopefully at the end of it all, the area will be cleaner.”
