This incident highlights the vigilance and attentiveness displayed by the police officers in Hobart Lane. When they noticed the cyclist behaving suspiciously, the officers took the proper steps to address the situation. The decision to intervene was based on the observations made by the officers, who witnessed the cyclist discarding items into a bush. This raised immediate concern, leading to the individual’s subsequent arrest and the initiation of a formal investigation.
In response to the incident, a cordon was established in the area. This measure served two purposes: first, to ensure the safety of the public, preventing unauthorized access to the site of interest, and second, to allow the investigating officers to conduct a thorough examination of the area. The cordon also allowed the officers to recover the items that had been discarded by the cyclist. By securing and analyzing the recovered items, the investigating team hoped to gather valuable evidence that would shed light on the nature of the incident and potentially uncover additional information related to the suspect.
Following his arrest, Phillip Cawley was taken into custody and transported to the Wymondham Police Investigation Centre. It was here that he was questioned about the circumstances surrounding the incident and his involvement. Through this questioning, it was determined that Cawley was in possession of two bladed weapons, leading to his subsequent charges. With the weight of these charges, Cawley was remanded in custody, ensuring his presence at Norwich Magistrates’ Court for his scheduled appearance on October 16.
