David Wagner’s side are hoping to display their newfound mentality and willingness to win by recording three points this afternoon.

It is the first time they have played at Carrow Road since their 3-1 victory over Millwall in August – they have won both of their home matches to date.

A victory today would mark the first time since 2006/07 that City have started a league season with three home wins on the bounce.

City will welcome new duo Danny Batth and Hwang Ui-jo to their matchday squad with Borja Sainz, Onel Hernandez and Adam Forshaw also set to return after building up their fitness during the international break.

They will be without Marcelino Nunez, who was undergoing a scan on his ankle issue on Thursday and long-term absentees Josh Sargent and Grant Hanley.

Neil returns to Carrow Road having managed City for over 100 games between 2015 and 2017, boasting a 40pc win ratio during his time at Carrow Road.

Famously, Neil led Norwich to the Premier League via a Wembley play-off victory over Middlesbrough in 2015, months after joining from Hamilton Academical.

He joined Stoke last season after leaving Sunderland and has made significant changes to the squad since taking over at the Bet365 Stadium.

They’ve enjoyed a mixed start to the campaign by winning two – against Rotherham and Watford – and losing three – against Ipswich, Preston and Millwall – of their opening five Championship fixtures.
