£2,500 in cash stolen from Revelation Cafe in Norwich

A significant amount of money was stolen from Revelation Cafe at the St Michael-at-Plea Church in Redwell Street on a Wednesday afternoon. The Grade-I listed building, dating back to the 15th century, has been in use as a Christian resource centre, bookshop, and cafe since 2008. Up to £2,500, including £800 raised by a trustee over the weekend, was taken from the centre. The stolen money was kept in a safe located in the back office of the church.

Devastated by the theft, Nick Potts, the manager of the cafe, expressed disbelief that someone would target a charity in this manner. The theft is a significant setback for the organization, which had just started to make a profit and become self-sustaining. In an attempt to recover from the loss, Revelation has set up a Gofundme page and is urging witnesses to come forward. Potts emphasized that the stolen money represents far more than just its monetary value, as it dashed the hopes and efforts of the team who had been working diligently to steer the organization in the right direction.

The Norfolk Constabulary has confirmed that it has received a report of the burglary and is currently investigating the incident. The cafe, bookshop, and Christian resource center, which operate out of the church, have been negatively impacted by the theft. The organization is hoping to recover from the loss and continue its mission to serve the community. The charity has received generous support from its patrons and the public in response to the theft, reinforcing the hope that it can overcome this setback and continue its important work.
