Norwich City: Blackburn Rovers chief hails Warner debut
The director of football for Blackburn Rovers, Adam Broughton, played a key role in developing the talent pipeline at Norwich City. During his time at Norwich’s academy, he helped produce players such as Max Aarons, Jamal Lewis, and Jon Rowe. Warner is the latest product of this talent pipeline to make it to the first team.
Broughton left Norwich when Stuart Webber arrived as the club’s new manager, but he later joined Blackburn Rovers in the summer of 2022. Blackburn had a strong season last year, finishing just outside the playoffs. In a recent match against Norwich City, Blackburn secured a 3-1 victory with one of the youngest squads in the Championship.
Broughton expressed his pleasure with Blackburn’s performance and result against Norwich in a social media post. He also noted how satisfying it was to see the legacy of the Norwich academy continue to produce talented players. Warner, in particular, made an impressive Championship debut after patiently waiting for his opportunity.
Broughton also highlighted other players who have graduated from the Norwich academy’s London recruitment program and gone on to make first team appearances. Players such as Jon Rowe, Tony Springett, Abu Kamara, Tyrese Omotoye, Saxon Earley, Nelson Khumbeni, and Alex Matos have all found success in their careers after coming through the Norwich system. Additionally, players like Max Aarons, Jamal Lewis, Ben Godfrey, Carlton Morris, Harry Toffolo, Jacob Murphy, Josh Murphy, Adam Idah, and Todd Cantwell have also emerged from the Norwich academy during this special era.
Overall, Broughton reflects on the privilege of working at Norwich City during such a fruitful period for player development. He takes pride in the success of the academy’s talent pipeline and is excited to see the legacy continue to thrive.
