Norwich City: Michael Duff reaction on Swansea 2-1 win

Bashir Humphreys’ late winner condemned the Canaries to their fourth successive defeat on the road after Gabriel Sara’s equaliser cancelled out Jamal Lowe’s opener inside the first three minutes.

Norwich left South Wales feeling frustrated they were unable to convert their second half pressure into goals – before Duff’s side upped their levels and snatched the points.

Duff, who has seen his side win their last three matches, felt they were deserving of the points after coping with a Norwich team that he feels are amongst the strongest in the division.

“I’m delighted with the result and the performance,” Duff said. “We started the game with real intent and their goal comes from us getting the press wrong and going in ones and twos which you can’t do.

“Second half we defended our box really well and finished strongly. We were good value against a really strong Norwich team. I think they are in a really good team, I said that before.

“There are a lot of hard games in this league but they are one of the better teams in the league. 20 plus shots I think we had.

“We finished really strong and the supporters came with us at the end after they put the six minutes up. It got the lads through it because they out on their feet.”

Norwich’s best chance of the second half came courtesy of Adam Idah, who was unable to guide Przemyslaw Placheta’s driven cross into the net.

Despite dominating the possession and territory, City were unable to construct clear cut chances – something David Wagner and Jack Stacey described as a ‘lack of quality’.

“I’ve said it all along but you aren’t going to be able to control the ball for 90 minutes. For all their pressure, there was a lot of balls flashing across the box and us putting bodies on the line but I don’t really remember Carl (Rushworth) making a save of any real note,” the Swans boss said.

“They had the header that the lad absolutely smashed across the goal and headed over but if you break it down purely on clear cut chances, we had the better ones in the match. That’s the most pleasing bit.”
