New vicar appointed for St Peter Mancroft in Norwich
The Bishop of Norwich, with the unanimous agreement of the churchwardens and elected representatives of the PCC, has appointed the Reverend Canon Edward Carter as the next Priest-in-Charge, and in due course Vicar, of St Peter Mancroft.
Edward and his wife Sarah are delighted to be returning to Norwich, the city where they started married life together over 25 years ago and where Edward was ordained.
In the intervening years, Edward has served as a Minor Canon at St George’s Windsor, as a parish priest in Didcot, Oxfordshire, and for the last six years as Canon Theologian at Chelmsford Cathedral in Essex. Edward’s interests include designing board games, playing volleyball, and amateur operatics. He and Sarah have two sons, John and Matthew, who are in their 20s.
Speaking about his appointment as Vicar at St Peter Mancroft, Edward said, “I am hugely excited to be taking up this very significant post, right in the heart of such a fine city. Please keep Sarah and me in your prayers as we prepare to move in the early Autumn.”
It is expected that Edward will be instituted and inducted as Vicar on October 14 at 6.30 pm in a service at St Peter Mancroft Church.
