Norwich City: Harry Toffolo given football ban for betting
The ban is suspended until the end of the 2024-25 season, after Toffolo was found guilty of FA rules which ban players from placing bets or sharing information that could be used for betting 375 times between 22 January 2014 and 18 March 2017.
That period included time on loan at Swindon Town, Rotherham United, Scunthorpe United and Peterborough United, with Toffolo also fined £20,956.
The suspension of the ban means Toffolo will be able to train and play for current club Nottingham Forest, who he joined from Huddersfield Town in the summer of 2023. The FA says an explanation for their decisions on the case “will be published in due course”.
Toffolo came through the Norwich academy, helping their under-18s to a surprise FA Youth Cup trophy in 2013. He left Norwich without making a league appearance in 2018, after 10 years at the club.
He then spent time at Millwall, before joining the Terriers from Lincoln City. He’s only appeared once for Forest so far this season, as a substitute in a Carabao Cup defeat to Burnley.
