New Director of Mission and Ministry welcomed

Richard Lamey has been licensed as the new Director of Mission and Ministry for the Diocese of Norwich by the Bishop of Norwich, Rt Rev Graham Usher. In a service at Norwich Cathedral, Rev Lamey was formally installed in his role, where he will provide support to parishes, clergy, and lay leaders throughout Norfolk and Waveney. He moves to East Anglia from the Diocese of Oxford, where he served as Rector of the Parish of St Paul in Wokingham and held various other positions within the church.

During his licensing ceremony, many former colleagues and parishioners from over 150 miles away attended, including the Choir of St Paul’s Wokingham, which performed as part of the service. Reflecting on the ceremony, Richard expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome he received and his excitement for the new role. He looks forward to meeting new people, visiting churches, and encouraging new initiatives to further God’s work in the community. The post of Director of Mission and Ministry is funded by external sources, including grants from the Church Commissioners and the Anne French Memorial Trust.
