Norwich City: Sunderland and Swansea axe Mowbray and Duff

The second-tier teams have seen nine manager casualties so far this season. One of the casualties is David Wagner, whose future at Norwich City has been the subject of intense speculation due to a prolonged downturn in performance. However, three recent wins may have secured his position as he publicly revealed he had the backing of the club’s soon-to-be joint minority shareholders. This comes after a run of nine defeats in 12 games for Norwich, including away losses to Swansea and Sunderland. Sunderland recently dismissed their manager, Tony Mowbray, despite finishing ninth in the league last season and guiding the team to the Championship play-offs. The club remains focused on identifying the right candidate to replace Mowbray.

Meanwhile, Russell Martin’s replacement, Michael Duff, at Swansea has also been dismissed after only being in post since June. Swansea has won only one of their last eight games in the league and currently sits at 18th in the table, five points behind Norwich. The chairman of Swansea, Andy Coleman, acknowledged the significant amount of change at the club during Duff’s tenure, both on and off the pitch. However, the decision to make a head coach change was made due to the lack of expected results and progress from the squad. Despite this, Coleman has expressed the utmost respect for Duff as a person and leader and wishes him the best in his future endeavors.

The decision to dismiss Mowbray and Duff was difficult for both clubs. However, both clubs remain loyal to their ambition and strategy and are focused on identifying the right candidate to take over as head coach. Both Norwich and Swansea are seeking to reconnect with their supporters and improve their performances on the pitch. While it has been a challenging season for both clubs, they remain committed to their goals and are determined to make the necessary changes to achieve success.
