1st Salhouse Scouts ask for land donation in new home search

The 1st Salhouse Scouts are in search of a landowner who can donate at least one acre of land to build a new, purpose-built hut. The group is currently based in the Jubilee Village Hall but feels that the shared location is unsuitable and restricts their ability to fully embrace the Scout atmosphere. Jackie Rose, the Group Scout Leader, expressed the need for a Scout hut to resemble a true Scout environment. The group also has younger Beavers and Cubs groups and aims to provide personal growth opportunities through outdoor activities at different age levels. They hope to create a safe, structured environment where young people can learn valuable life skills, cultivate teamwork and problem-solving abilities, and develop resilience.

Rebecca Houston, chair of Salhouse Scouts, emphasized the importance of a dedicated facility and outdoor space for camping and activities, which would greatly enhance the experience offered to Scouts, Cubs, and Beavers from diverse backgrounds. Although the Jubilee Village Hall is a suitable venue, the group is eager to have a space of their own where they can potentially accommodate and expand their troops without long waiting lists. By donating land, individuals have the opportunity to contribute to the development of future community leaders and active citizens, providing a lasting legacy for generations of Scouts to become responsible, confident adults.

The group is searching for a land donation in order to build a new headquarters that will allow them to fully embrace the Scout culture and cater to the needs of their members. The lack of a dedicated space restricts their ability to fully embody the spirit of the Scouts and provide tailored experiences for their members. By having their own land, they believe they will be able to accommodate and expand their Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts troops. The donation of land will play a vital role in creating a lasting legacy for generations and inspiring countless scouts to become responsible, confident adults. Anyone who can potentially donate land can contact group leader Jackie Rose via email using [email protected].
