Ex-Norwich City winger Josh Martin joins Portsmouth
Josh Martin, a 22-year-old midfielder, has earned a temporary contract with Portsmouth after impressing during his training with the South Coast club. He has been out of contract since being released by Norwich City in the summer and had played on loan for Doncaster and Barnsley. After moving to the area to live with his girlfriend, Martin has been training with Portsmouth and has made enough of an impression to earn a temporary contract with the club. He has previously played 16 times for Norwich City and made his professional debut in the Premier League.
He was orignally signed by Norwich from Arsenal and had impressed Daniel Farke enough to earn himself 16 first-team appearances. After struggling to consistently earn a starting place at Norwich, Martin joined MK Dons on loan and ended up having a limited game time due to manager changes after the club’s relegations. He then went on to have loan spells at Doncaster and Barnsley. However, Portsmouth are hopeful that he can impress and earn himself a longer-term deal with the club as they have been impressed with his training performances.
Portsmouth, who are currently top of the League One, have been pleased with Josh Martin’s performance and decided to add him to their squad after an injury to Tino Anjorin. They believe that Martin’s technical ability and experience in the Premier League and Championship make him a valuable addition to their team. Although Martin had other options available to him, Portsmouth have expressed their delight that he chose to sign with them and are excited about the potential he brings. They describe Martin as an excellent player with a lot of technical ability and believe that they have a good player on their hands if they can get him performing at his best again.
