Norwich couple to plant churches in Spain
Simon and Jennifer Barnes will soon be leaving Norwich to work with European Christian Mission in Spain where they will be church planters upon completion of their language learning.
Simon and Jennifer were married in 2013 and knew that both of their jobs were coming to an end, so they started talking, praying and listening to discern their next steps. During an evening of prayer at a retreat in September 2013 both of them individually heard from God about Spain. This prompted more prayer and discussion, and a meeting with European Christian Mission confirmed that God was leading them both to Spain. This ultimately led to a week long visit to Spain in December 2013 meeting a number of missionaries working throughout Andalucia.
Jennifer adds, “the evangelical church in Spain is very small, and there are thousands of towns and villages in Spain that have no evangelical witness whatsoever. We seek to share Christ with those who have not yet had an opportunity to hear the Good News. We had previously thought of Spain as just a holiday destination, but now realise that the need for people to share the Good News in Spain is huge!”
They met after Simon moved from his home town of Beverley in East Yorkshire to work at Holy Trinity church in Norwich. Both have theology degrees, Jennifer is currently teaching and Simon is working as a science technician, they both worship at Holy Trinity church, Norwich where they are ‘mission partners in preparation’.
Simon and Jennifer need to raise financial support to serve in Spain and are looking for individuals and churches to partner with them, more details and information is available on their web site https://barnesfamilyspain.wordpress.com/ or by emailing [email protected]
