Colin King, a retired Norfolk farmer, has had a series of life-threatening experiences throughout his 85 years, including surviving a nuclear explosion and multiple accidents. In 1958, while working for the RAF, Colin witnessed a nuclear bomb exploding on Christmas Island. He and a group of about 30 others sat with their backs towards ground zero as the bomb detonated, causing a fireball and implosion. In 1960, Colin had a serious farming accident where he severely cut his tendon, and during his hospitalization, his flock of laying hens contracted foul pest, which he had to slaughter.
