Missionaries seek housing on return from Senegal
A Christian couple have returned to Norfolk from Senegal due to the coronavirus and are looking for accommodation.
Missionaries Mark and Audrey Skinner are members of Wycliffe Bible Translators, seconded to work with SIL in Senegal. Audrey currently serves as prayer coordinator and helps with member care; she has also been involved with Bible Storying strategies in Guinea-Bissau, Senegal’s southern neighbour, seeking to provide stories in local languages that enable people who are oral-based learners to hear and understand the Gospel for themselves. Mark provides computer support support for the SIL projects in Senegal, as well as other organisations involved in translation, language development, literacy and education. A lot of Mark’s work is taken up supporting keyboards for typing the various languages and scripts used in Senegal.
Audrey said, “We have been serving there since 2004, coming home every two years for a couple of months. We sold our house in Norfolk when we first went overseas and have no permanent address in the UK, even though we are “ordinarily resident” in the UK. We are in our sixties and both diabetic, so are considered to be in the high risk category with regard to COVID-19. Because of this, we were advised to return home till things stabilise. God has wonderfully provided for our stay so far, first with a holiday cottage in Northampton and currently in a caravan in Briston, Melton Constable, whilst continuing to maintain our home in Senegal.” The caravan the couple of staying in needs to be shut down at the end of October, so they need to find somewhere to stay for an unknown period of time, from November onwards, or earlier if possible.
Mark’s mum is a resident in Quebec Hall, a Care Home in Dereham, so, if possible, they would like to find a place close to her whilst they are in the UK.
