Hard times strengthen faith says Norfolk author

Georgie Tennant, a writer from King’s Lynn, recently published a 30-day devotional book titled “The God Who Sees You,” inspired by her experiences of faith and resilience after losing a baby. The book is designed to provide reflections, music suggestions, and questions to aid in prayer and contemplation around a Bible narrative, aiming to help readers feel seen, valued, and secure.

The idea for the book began with five devotional pieces Georgie wrote for her church during lockdown. With the help of a commissioning editor, she pitched the idea for a full 30-Day Devotional plan to Kevin Mayhew Publisher, leading to the publication of her book. Georgie describes herself as an “apprentice finder-of-hope in hard things” and believes that difficult experiences can lead to a deeper and steadier faith.

Georgie’s journey to faith began as a teenager through a youth group in her hometown. After moving away for university and starting a family, she faced the devastating loss of her daughter, Grace, just days after Christmas, leading to a period of anger, disappointment, and questioning her faith. Despite the challenges, Georgie and her husband went on to have another child and returned to their home church, where she is involved in ministry and teaching.

She strives to demonstrate an authentic faith that acknowledges the tough times without descending into despair and has received positive feedback about her book, with many people finding it encouraging during difficult times. “The God Who Sees You” is available online and in local bookshops, and Georgie hopes to engage with readers through author visits and book signings.

Georgie’s personal experiences of loss and resilience have inspired her to create a devotional book that offers hope and encouragement to others facing difficult times, with the belief that God sees, walks with, strengthens, and ultimately turns things around for good, even in the face of adversity.
