“God helped me climb Mount Snowden”
Lyn Milns, a member of Dereham Baptist Church, achieved her ambition of climbing to the top of Mount Snowden in North Wales before turning 75. Despite having health issues such as an under-active thyroid and back problems, Lyn decided to attempt the climb while on holiday in Llanberis, Wales. With no prior experience in hiking or climbing, she pushed through her fear of heights and persevered through misty conditions to reach the summit. Her determination and faith in God’s guidance helped her overcome the challenges she faced during the climb.
During the trek, Lyn struggled with the difficult terrain and the fear of potential health issues. However, a couple she encountered on the trail, one of whom was a nurse in a Stroke Unit, offered their assistance and support to help her reach the summit. With their help and with the encouragement of her anonymous friends, Lyn was able to successfully complete her bucket list goal and touch the brass plate at the trig point on the summit. Despite feeling exhausted, Lyn credits her accomplishment to the presence of the Lord with her throughout the journey.
Having reached the summit of Mount Snowden, Lyn reflected on the support she received from her anonymous friends and her unwavering faith in God’s guidance. She expressed gratitude for the help she received during the climb and acknowledged that she could not have achieved her goal without their assistance. As she celebrated her 75th birthday five days later, Lyn felt empowered by the realization that she had overcome her fears and completed a significant milestone in her life.
Lyn’s story serves as a testament to the power of faith, determination, and the kindness of strangers. Despite facing obstacles and uncertainties during her climb, she relied on her belief in God’s guidance and the support of those around her to achieve her goal. By pushing through her fears and physical limitations, Lyn was able to accomplish a significant achievement and mark her 75th birthday with a sense of pride and fulfillment. Her experience highlights the importance of perseverance, community, and the belief that with faith, anything is possible.
