One church with different communities at Crossroads

The Crossroads family of churches in the West of Norwich, including St Anne, St Elizabeth, and St Mary, have been brought together under the leadership of Rev Di Rowlandson, Rev Ben Rogers, and Rev Julian Bryant. The three churches, each with their own unique history and community character, have joined forces to make Jesus known in the Earlham area. With the changing culture of the area, including an increase in the student population, the churches faced dwindling attendance, but have worked to develop relationships within the community and between the churches. The clergy of Crossroads have worked to serve their community and introduce them to God’s saving love, with a focus on relationships over numbers.

Rev Julian Bryant, who joined the Crossroads team 18 months ago, describes Crossroads as a church with the community at its heart. The churches have formed strong links with the local schools, and vibrant community groups are based at St Elizabeth’s, including Zumba classes, a Foodbank, and a café church. St Anne’s and St Elizabeth’s also hold regular café church events, creating a welcoming and community-focused atmosphere. Rev Ben Rogers is also involved with serving the under-30s and is pioneering an evening service at St Anne’s. Collaboration is key for the Crossroads family, as they have partnered with other churches and organizations in the community to provide services and support for the diverse population in the area.

The Crossroads family of churches serves a diverse community of different ages, backgrounds, and needs, but they have maintained a cohesive and supportive team that worships, prays, and has fun together. With a focus on building relationships and introducing people to the love of Jesus, the clergy and members of Crossroads are committed to serving their community well. The team also includes Anglican Chaplain Rev Ben Rogers, and together they are working to raise the profile of the Faith Centre at the University of East Anglia as a welcoming place for students and staff to explore faith. Finally, Crossroads also runs a missional house next to St Elizabeth where people can serve and experience the community of Earlham for up to a year while working out their future steps in ministry.
