Norfolk Pilgrimage to fund church youth camp
A group from Norwich recently completed a 62-mile sponsored walk in order to raise money for young people to attend a church summer camp. The team from SOUL Church walked from the Royal Hospital School in Ipswich back to the church on Heartsease Lane, with the aim of making the youth summer camp accessible to as many young people as possible. James Cowell, the Youth Pastor, explained that the annual SOUL Shift youth camp is for individuals aged 11-18, and every year they witness young people experiencing a transformation in their lives through the love of Jesus. Recognizing that there are teenagers who may not be able to afford to attend the camp, the team undertook the challenge of walking from Ipswich to Norwich to raise funds and ensure that no one misses out on the opportunity to participate in the camp.
The team started their journey from Ipswich on a Sunday afternoon and walked through the night to reach SOUL Church the following day. The walk was described as a real challenge, but they were motivated by the prospect of seeing positive changes in the lives of young people from Norwich and the surrounding areas. The contributions from donations, regardless of the amount, were greatly appreciated as they help in sending more young people to the SOUL Shift camp. Those interested in sponsoring the team and supporting the cause can do so by donating through the campaign page set up for this purpose. The team’s efforts have been instrumental in ensuring that the camp remains accessible to all young individuals, allowing them to experience the life-changing impact of the camp and the teachings shared there.
James Cowell emphasized the significance of the SOUL Shift youth camp in introducing young people to Jesus and witnessing the powerful transformation that can occur in their lives through His love. The camp serves as a platform for young individuals to connect with their faith, develop spiritually, and establish meaningful relationships with others in a supportive community. By raising funds through the sponsored walk, the team from SOUL Church is enabling more young people to access the camp and benefit from its positive influence. The dedication and determination shown by the team in completing the 62-mile walk demonstrate their commitment to ensuring that every young person has the opportunity to participate in the camp and potentially experience a life-changing encounter with Jesus.
Overall, the sponsored walk undertaken by the team from Norwich serves as a testament to their commitment to supporting young people in their spiritual growth and development. The funds raised will not only allow more individuals to attend the SOUL Shift youth camp but also enable them to experience the transformative power of faith, community, and love. Through their efforts, the team has exemplified the values of compassion, generosity, and service, ensuring that youth from diverse backgrounds have the chance to engage with their faith and be positively impacted by the teachings and experiences offered at the camp. The success of the walk reflects the strong sense of community and unity within SOUL Church, as members come together to support each other and make a difference in the lives of young people in the local area.
