Norwich City: Jonathan Tomkinson plays for USA Olympics side

Norwich City academy graduate Tomkinson made an impressive start to his journey towards Paris 2024 when he featured as a central defender for the North American under-23 side in their 2-1 victory. The 21-year-old played for 60 minutes before being substituted. The team’s next game is scheduled for Wednesday, October 18 at 3:30 am BST. The upcoming games next summer will allow the under-23 teams to include three overage players.

Currently on loan at Bradford City, Tomkinson has had limited opportunities to showcase his talent. He has made only one appearance for the team in League Two. Disappointingly, manager Mark Hughes was sacked just weeks after bringing the young defender to the club. Despite the upheaval, Bradford City has shown signs of improvement, winning consecutive games following Hughes’ departure. The team is now ranked 14th in the fourth tier.

Before his loan move to Bradford City, Tomkinson played an instrumental role in helping Stevenage gain promotion last season. On loan from Norwich, he made seven appearances and contributed to the team’s successful campaign in League Two.

Tomkinson’s recent performance for the North American under-23 team demonstrates his potential and ability to make an impact on the international stage. Although his loan spell at Bradford City has been less fruitful due to the managerial changes, the team’s recent successes offer hope for a brighter future. With his talent and experience in helping Stevenage secure promotion, Tomkinson has the potential to thrive and make significant contributions to his loan club as well as garnering further opportunities with the North American under-23 team.
