Norfolk Christian equipped for Bible teaching

As the world becomes increasingly interconnected, it’s not uncommon to meet individuals who have dedicated their lives to spreading the message of hope and faith to communities in need. One such remarkable individual is Esme Nice, a young Christian from Norfolk, who is preparing to embark on a short-term mission to Fiji. Esme’s journey is a testament to her unwavering commitment to her faith and her desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others. With a coffee morning planned in Norwich on June 14 to raise funds for her trip, Esme’s story is an inspiration to us all, and a reminder that our missional calling is not just limited to grand gestures, but can be lived out in our daily lives.
Esme’s journey with the mission organization Youth With A Mission (YWAM) began in January 2022, when she enrolled in the discipleship training school. This marked the beginning of an incredible adventure that would take her to numerous countries, where she would engage in a variety of ministries, including street evangelism, youth work, and home visits with refugees. Esme’s experiences have been nothing short of life-changing, and she has been privileged to witness the transformative power of the gospel in the lives of people from diverse backgrounds. Whether it was studying the Bible in the very places where it was written, or ministering to those in need, Esme’s heart has been shaped by her encounters with God’s word and His people. Her time in Germany, the Middle East, Egypt, Corinth, Israel, Ephesus, and Rome has deepened her understanding of the cultural context behind the Bible, and she is now equipped to teach others about the goodness and mercy of God.
As Esme prepares to travel to Fiji as part of the Titus Project, she is filled with a mix of emotions – excitement and nervousness. She is aware of the responsibility that comes with teaching the Bible and is eager to communicate God’s word in a way that is respectful and effective. Esme’s humility and willingness to learn are traits that have been evident throughout her journey, and she is quick to acknowledge that she is still growing in her faith. Her experiences in the Netherlands and South Africa have provided her with valuable opportunities to practice teaching and ministering to others, and she is now ready to take on new challenges in Fiji. With a team of ten individuals from eight different nationalities, Esme is excited to be part of a diverse and dynamic group that is united in their passion to share the gospel with communities in need.
Esme’s story is a powerful reminder that our missional calling is not just limited to grand, overseas adventures. Rather, it is a lifestyle that can be lived out in our daily lives, wherever we go. Whether we are at home or away, we have the opportunity to evangelize and minister to those around us. Esme’s experiences have taught her that the gospel is not something that can be switched on and off, but rather it is a way of life that permeates every aspect of our being. As she returns to Norfolk for university in September, Esme is eager to see how God will continue to shape her faith and use her to make a positive impact in her community. With a heart that is deeply rooted in Norfolk, Esme is excited to see how God will move in the future, and she is committed to being a part of it.
One of the most significant experiences that has shaped Esme’s journey is the life-changing power of the gospel. She has witnessed firsthand the transformative impact that God’s word can have on people’s lives, and she is eager to share this message with others. From praying for a lady who received her hearing back in the Middle East, to teaching the Bible in the Netherlands and South Africa, Esme has seen the gospel bring hope and healing to people from all walks of life. Her story is a testament to the power of faith and the impact that one person can have when they are committed to sharing the message of the gospel. As Esme embarks on her next adventure in Fiji, she is aware that she will face challenges and uncertainties, but she is confident in the power of God to guide and equip her.
As the Norfolk Christian community comes together to support Esme on her mission, they are reminded that they too can play a vital role in spreading the message of the gospel. Whether it is through prayer, financial support, or simply being a source of encouragement, everyone can be involved in Esme’s journey. The coffee morning on June 14 is an opportunity for the community to come together and support Esme as she prepares to travel to Fiji. As we read Esme’s story, we are reminded that our faith is not just a private affair, but it is something that can be shared with others. We are called to be salt and light in a world that desperately needs the message of hope and redemption that the gospel brings. Esme’s journey is an inspiration to us all, and a reminder that we too can make a difference in the lives of others, wherever we go.
