Hebron to Hebron charity challenge underway

In a remarkable display of determination and compassion, two women, Emma and Clare, from a local housing charity in Norwich, have embarked on an extraordinary journey to raise money and awareness for women in crisis. The duo set off from Hebron House in Norwich, bound for Hebron in Northumberland, a staggering 312 miles away. Their challenge, dubbed “Hebron to Hebron 2,” will see them walk the east coast over five days, relying solely on the kindness of strangers to get by, with no money, food, or transportation to support them. This audacious endeavor aims to raise vital funds and public understanding for women fleeing domestic abuse, recovering from addiction, or struggling with mental health challenges.
As they began their journey from Harford Bridge Tesco on June 30th, Emma, the CEO of Hebron Housing, and Clare, a Supported Housing Officer, were filled with a mix of excitement and trepidation. Their route will take them through several coastal towns, including Skegness, Hull, Scarborough, Hartlepool, and Morpeth, before culminating in a special welcome evening at Mitford Church in Northumberland. Each night, they will be hosted by generous supporters who have donated accommodation, while every hotel along the way has also donated breakfast, highlighting the importance of nourishment and dignity for women starting anew. The team’s progress can be followed on social media, and the public is invited to donate and spread the word through their JustGiving page, Instagram, and Facebook accounts.
For Clare, this journey is deeply personal. Having started her own recovery journey ten years ago, she is now dedicated to helping other women navigate similar challenges. “Walking this route is about gratitude, but also action — so other women have the same chance I did,” she remarks. Emma, who has led Hebron Housing for over a decade, has helped hundreds of women find safety and stability. Together, they are driven by a fierce determination to show that every woman deserves a second chance, whether she’s escaping domestic violence, struggling with addiction, or navigating mental health battles. As Emma poignantly puts it, “This walk is a show of strength for all of them.”
The “Hebron to Hebron 2” challenge is not just about raising money; it’s about raising awareness and promoting public understanding of the complex issues faced by women in crisis. By embarking on this arduous journey, Emma and Clare hope to inspire others to join them in their mission to support and empower women in need. Their story is a testament to the human spirit’s capacity for resilience, compassion, and kindness. As they walk along the east coast, they will be sharing their experiences, highlighting the importance of community support, and demonstrating the impact that collective action can have on the lives of women in crisis.
Throughout their journey, Emma and Clare will be stopping at various locations, meeting with local communities, and sharing their story with anyone who will listen. They will be speaking about the work of Hebron Housing, the challenges faced by women in crisis, and the importance of providing safe and supportive environments for those in need. By doing so, they aim to inspire a sense of solidarity and collective responsibility, encouraging others to join them in their quest to make a positive difference in the lives of women. As they near the end of their journey, they will be welcomed at Mitford Church, where they will share their story and reflect on the experiences they’ve had along the way.
The “Hebron to Hebron 2” challenge is a powerful reminder of the importance of compassion, empathy, and community support. As Emma and Clare complete their 312-mile journey, they will have inspired countless individuals to take action, donate, and spread the word about the vital work of Hebron Housing. Their story will have touched the hearts of many, highlighting the resilience and strength of women in crisis and the impact that collective action can have on their lives. As they return to Norwich, they will carry with them the knowledge that they have made a tangible difference, and that their journey has inspired a wave of kindness and compassion that will continue to ripple out into the world. The public can continue to follow their journey and support their cause by visiting their social media pages and donating through their JustGiving page.
