Christ Church in Norwich celebrates 150 years
Christ Church in Eaton, Norwich is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year with a special Fantastic Fish exhibition in the church building.
The Fantastic Fish exhibition will be held from Friday 24th to Monday 27th November, the church’s anniversary weekend, which will also include a thanksgiving service with the Bishop of Norwich on the Sunday.
“We are inviting everyone – young or old – to help us to celebrate the church’s 150th anniversary by taking part in a “Fantastic Fish” exhibition by making, drawing, sewing, painting or knitting a fish – or lots of them!” said John Ladd from the church.
The closing date for entries is October 20. Entries are free of charge and there will be prizes awarded for each category. Entry forms are available from the church or to download from their website.
“There are many fish in the Bible and the fish was an early Christian symbol. There are many and varied fish in our seas and rivers, reminding us of water’s regenerative powers and its importance through the ages. We want to fill the church with amazing fish of all kinds, shapes and sizes!,” said John.
Last month, celebrating its 150th year, the Eaton Parishes Garden party (pictured above) was held to great success. Opened by the Lord Mayer of Norwich, James Wright, the event raised over £2,000 for children and youth work in the Eaton area.
