YMCA residents in King’s Lynn get active

Young YMCA Norfolk residents in King’s Lynn are now able to enjoy outdoor games and activities in the garden of their Wolstencroft home thanks to generous donations from Dobbies and Tesco.

Community Champions Victoria Emden from Dobbies and Laura Gathercole from Tesco, visited the YMCA accommodation on June 11 to present the nine young people who live there with a bench, plants, outdoor games and other activities. In return the YMCA team staged a celebration barbecue in the garden and got busy straightaway using the various gifts.

Laura said: “We received a letter from Nadine Petch at YMCA Norfolk asking for assistance and it was our pleasure to have been able to provide some items so that the young people can make the most of their outdoor space.

“We have a great partnership with the local community and Tesco and Dobbies like to give back and offer support wherever they can.  It is always nice to make new friends and it has been inspiring to find out more about the great work that YMCA does and have our eyes opened to something new.

Nadine Petch, YMCA Senior Tenancy Worker, said: “This will make a huge difference to the young people, provide positive activities and enable them to get fit and active and generally improve their health and wellbeing.  We are very grateful to Tesco and Dobbies for their support.”
