West Norfolk church looking for a Director of Music
St. Faith’s Gaywood, an Anglican Methodist partnership church, is in search of a new Director of Music. The church has a strong musical tradition and has been a shared worship space for Anglicans and Methodists for more than 50 years. The current Director of Music is retiring, presenting an opportunity for someone to join the community and lead the music program. The church’s choir plays a significant role in traditional worship services, singing hymns and occasional anthems.
At St. Faith’s, there is a desire to grow the adult choir, encouraging new and existing members to participate. The new Director of Music will be expected to lead the choir, collaborate with the Rector and Ministry Team to enhance the music offerings, and focus on developing the settings for the sung Eucharist on the first Sunday of each month. The singers in the choir have varying abilities but share a dedication and commitment to their craft. Additionally, there is a youth choir that meets monthly to sing a wide range of music. Music not only plays a vital role in worship at St. Faith’s but also forms an integral part of the community’s social calendar, with musicians supporting outreach programs and participating in regular concerts and fundraisers.
The position of Director of Music at St. Faith’s is part-time and would be ideal for someone who is semi-retired and possesses the energy and drive to develop the role. The church is seeking an individual who can work alongside their enthusiastic and dedicated community members to further enhance the music program. Those interested in the position are encouraged to reach out to Rev Kyla Sørensen for an informal conversation. The closing date for applications is September 30, 2024. St. Faith’s Gaywood is a beloved church in the community, and the new Director of Music will play a crucial role in continuing the church’s rich musical tradition and enhancing its worship experience.
