King’s Lynn to host regional Christian youth event

Churches in west Norfolk are organising a pioneering regional Christian youth event in early July, to be based in King’s Lynn.

“It’s not easy being a young Christian,” write the organisers, Rev Mark Capron (Dersingham) and Rev Becca Rogers (St John’s King’s Lynn). “Our young people need support from the church as they grow in their faith and get the message that they are part of a bigger Kingdom picture.”

The leaders hope that new regional event, called Encounter, will be a blessing and encouragement to young people. Churches are working together on the principle that “As the tide comes in all the boats rise.”

“It has been both on our hearts and in our prayers for a number of years to initiate a regional youth event,” write the organisers. “It will provide space for young people to meet and be with other like-minded Christian young people from other churches in West Norfolk, North Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire.”

The event also offers an opportunity to young people from churches where there is no youth group to meet others and be emboldened. There will be games, a taskmaster challenge, café, worship and a talk. The event is for the wider church, and leaders are invited to let colleagues and young people their area know about it.

The location of the event is as accessible as possible, next to the railway station, close to St James car park and the bus station at St John’s Church the Walks, PE30 1NT. It takes place on Saturday July 9 from 6:30-9pm.
