Union Church in Hunstanton has recently launched a new Community Café open on Wednesday mornings where it welcomes member of the local community, holidaymakers and their dogs.
On Wednesday, March 29 Union Church in Hunstanton, North West Norfolk launched a Community Café in its church building on Sandringham Road. The cafe is open every Wednesday morning between 10am – 12noon serving fresh filter coffee, a range of homemade cakes and tasty items donated by the local baker.
As well as being an outreach to the community including both visitors from the town and holidaymakers, the Community Café will also be a valuable mid-week meeting place for the church fellowship.
The Community Café has been the initiative of Deacon Sandy Nizol (pictured on left of photo with Rev Sam Abramian middle and Deputy Mayor Cllr Adrian Winnington) who saw the opportunity when Bernard and Dorothy Clampton decided to step back from leading the church’s long running Wednesday Coffee Morning after 17 years of hard work.
Rev Sam Abramian, the Minister of Union Church said: “The primary aim of the new café is to welcome people into the church building and witness to them through hospitality, friendship and spiritual support.
“Visitors to the old style coffee morning and table top sale will be surprised and hopefully delighted to see the changes made by the new team. The hall has been tastefully re-decorated as well as a partition wall removed which has created more space and light. The response from visitors has been very positive especially as we also welcome dogs.”
The café will also be a point of sale for Heacham Christian Bookshop, at no profit to the church, giving visitors the opportunity to buy Christian cards and gifts which are otherwise unavailable in the town.
A small range of other quality items will also be available to purchase including books, DVDs, jig-saws, china and various craft items.
